Wait, it’s already November?

Hello everyone!

It is absolutely insane how half of the semester is already over as we approach Turkey Day & the Holidays!

A lot has happened these past couple of weeks!

First and foremost, on the 27th of October I got to participate in my second Make a Difference Day with a bunch of other SLU students and faculty.

To those who do not know what Make a Difference Day is, it is a day on the fourth Saturday of every October where the nation comes together to volunteer at specific locations. The SLU community volunteered in parts of the city of Saint Louis. Here is a perfect description of what Make a Difference day is: http://slu.edu/news-2012-make-a-difference-day-1029.
The desire to volunteer and give back to the community is a quality that all the Billikens have which makes this institution truly an amazing place.

Last year, I was able to volunteer at a construction site with my University-101 class. Below is a recap from last year:

This year, I woke up bright and early to volunteer at a Strides Run Event with the Alpha Epsilon Delta (SLU’s pre-health club) for Breast Cancer awareness. It was very cold, but nonetheless a great experience. The organization assigned me and my friends to be “route police” where we guided the runners to the right direction and of course cheered them on.
Here is a short video of what my day consisted of featuring Jared Lammert, an officer for AED and on the Pre-Medicine track, and Megan Doyle, a Public Health major on the Physician Assistant track:

Other than having a great time at Make a Difference Day, I went to my Kappa Delta event called Debuts, which is a Halloween event for my sorority. The theme for the sophomore class was “Disney”. Can you guess what I was?

Last, but not least this past weekend I participated in the Student Activities Board’s HotShot SnapShot Challenge which consisted of a scavenger hunt around campus, but instead we had to take photos with the team at specific places like this one (jumping on a bridge):

One of the tasks was to record the Gangnam style dance in the Dog Park by SLU’s campus. Here is a recording of my team doing the dance:

And the best part about this event?
Well…we won first place and ended up winning free tickets to watch the Blue Man Group at the end of this month! I had a blast running around campus and having a good time with my friends. :)

Now, it’s time for me to get back to work!
I hope to check back in very soon!

And by the way, HAPPY ELECTION DAY everyone!

Until then,
